75 minute, in-school Art Workshops that keep children fully
focussed and are crammed with practical art knowledge. Average ability
children discover that they really can draw well!
In mid 2000 I put aside my paint brushes, visited a local school and took 180 Year 3 and 4 children on a journey back to my artistic beginnings as a 5 year old. I shared the understandings about drawing that had helped me the most. - The things that I wish someone had shown me. I encouraged the children to draw, modelled some practical steps and got them to follow me…
Since then I’ve hardly had time to get back to my easel! What began as one workshop has grown into an ongoing programme in growing numbers of schools right round NZ. I realise that: I have come up with something that really works; is of considerable value to teachers and children alike; is much bigger than I can manage on my own. During 2006 I began training other presenters who could extend and multiply the workshops thus freeing me to develop further teacher friendly art resources.
